Abdur Rahman Siddiqi (1887–1953) was a statesman who worked tirelessly for the movement for independence from colonial rule. He was a key member of the Indian Medical Mission to Turkiye 1912-13. An active member of the Khilafat Movement, he also represented the All India Muslim League on delegations to London and the Middle East to support the Palestinian cause. He was assistant editor of the Comrade Newspaper at its inception. He served as Mayor of Calcutta (1940-41), acting governor of East Pakistan (1952). He established Morning News (1941) and was founding member of the Eastern Federal Insurance Company (1932), the first Muslim Insurance Company of India.
